THE FIJI ECONOMY'S STAR PERFORMER

Welcome to Pacific Palm Marina Resort Fiji

The tourism sector has been the “star performer” in the Fiji economy over the last five years, reaching record levels in visitor numbers, visitor expenditure, foreign exchange earnings, and new hotel & resort investment. The current Fiji government is very supportive of tourism, and the Fiji visitors bureau (“FVB”) continues to effectively promote Fiji as a tourist destination.

Fiji’s construction sector is currently stretched, with major new resort and hotel construction and planned developments, this constraint will continue for the next few years. The Fiji tourism industry has proven to be resilient, since 1970 visitor arrival numbers have grown steadily from 4% annually and more recently at 8.3% to 16.1% in 2004 to over 30% last year and growing rapidly this year.

From the problems in Indonesia and Thailand tourism has turned to Fiji for their local holiday / conference. From Suva to Pacific Harbour there are limited to none five star resorts available, thus providing facilities to all markets. Most of the hotels / resorts do not cater up to family standards. Pacific Palm Marina Resort will have two 5 star hotel sites, making this above statement history.

Fiji’s major markets for international visitors; United States, Canada, New Zealand are all exhibiting good demand for Fiji holiday packages, which have been competitively priced, due mainly to the lower airfares.
